Role: Engineer – Wireless Networking
As part of our Wireless Network Engineering team, you’ll be at the center of building the next generation of Wi-Fi connectivity across Target stores, distribution centers, and headquarters. This platform is a mission-critical backbone connecting our 350,000+ team members and millions of guests to Target’s services and applications.
Our team is shaping the future of networking at Target, adopting AI-powered Wi-Fi systems and evolving them to meet enterprise-scale needs.
What You’ll Do
Contribute to the design, deployment, and optimization of Wi-Fi networks across Target.
Partner with engineers to deliver scalable, high-quality wireless solutions.
Improve operational efficiency through automation and develop tools for managing access points.
Ensure reliability and security for our guest and team member connections.

Technology Stack
Programming: Python (preferred), Java, or Go.
Visualization: Grafana.
Wireless Systems: Juniper Mist, Cisco AireOS.
Networking Fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, IP addressing.
Operating Systems: Linux.
DevOps/CI/CD: Git, Jenkins, Drone.
About You
Required
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
1+ years of networking experience.
Understanding of wireless networking, IP addressing, routing, and switching.
Proficiency with TCP/IP and core protocols.
Experience with at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Go).
Familiarity with Linux systems.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to resolve routine technical issues with some guidance.
Commitment to teamwork and continuous learning.
Preferred
Knowledge of Wi-Fi concepts (SSID, WPA modes, channels).
Understanding of radio fundamentals (frequencies, SNR, antenna types).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation tools.
Work Arrangement
This role follows a Hybrid / Flex for Your Day model. Team members split their time between Target HQ in Minnesota and virtual work, depending on team and project needs. Duties cannot be performed outside the U.S. unless authorized. Learn more about living and working in Minnesota here.
