About the Stores Executive Leadership Internship:
Experience firsthand what it’s like to lead a retail team within a Target store. This paid internship offers a 40-hour per week, hands-on training program designed to prepare you for a store leadership role. As a Stores Executive Intern, you’ll gain valuable insight into the Executive Team Leader (Assistant Store Manager) role. You’ll work closely with managers and team members to understand Target’s retail operations and what it takes to excel in a management role. The internship will introduce you to various store operations, but most of your time will be spent leading the team, identifying and working towards store priorities, and delivering excellent guest service.
This program is designed to teach you how to lead within a retail store:
Learn how to enhance guest experience and influence your store’s financial, team, and operational performance.
Work alongside a mentor to understand their leadership style and departmental management.
Lead your mentor’s department with guidance and support.
Spend your days learning to motivate a team, drive sales results, merchandise products, and deliver exceptional guest service.
Participate in ongoing developmental conversations to ensure you’re supported and growing.
Lead daily operations, build store culture, and guide your team to achieve goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Spend time on the sales floor and in the backroom, leading team members and aligning them on daily business priorities.
Work closely with your Executive Team Lead (ETL) mentor and other leaders to gain a comprehensive understanding of their roles.
Lead daily priorities, such as stocking shelves, ensuring a welcoming environment, and building displays.
Partner with leaders on team member performance, providing coaching, training, and feedback.
Address team member concerns and remove obstacles to ensure smooth operations.
Lead or present at daily huddles with peers and leadership teams.
Plan daily goals and organize tasks within the building.
Understand business reports and guest insights to identify and follow up on opportunities.
Deliver exceptional guest experiences by empowering team members to resolve guest issues.
Provide new ideas and solutions to team or business challenges.
Take the initiative to learn how to be a Target leader, seeking out growth and development opportunities.
Participate in internship training activities, developmental opportunities, and events.
Embrace a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; lead the team to uphold these values.
Work safely at all times, identify and correct hazards, and comply with safety policies.
